Level 1 Coaching Course

After the tremendous success of running two Introduction to Coaching Gaelic Games (ICGG) Courses last Winter, the Rackard League Committee, in conjunction with Wexford Coaching and Games is considering running an Award 1 Child Hurling and Football Course this Winter. 
 
The Award 1 Child Coach Education course is the second award on the coaching pathway of Gaelic games. The course is aimed at coaches that have progressed through the ICGG and have experience as a Coach with Children U12 and younger. This is a great opportunity for teachers to develop their coaching skills  that will help with;  the delivery of PE, coaching  school teams/ club teams and indeed coaching other sports also. 
 
Entry Requirements:
Completed ICGG or Foundation Award and at least one season coaching. 
 
Duration: 6 sessions of 2.5 hours approx.
 
Assessment: On Course coaching observation & full attendance required.
 
We will need a minimum of 12 applicants in order to run the course. 
 
Venue TBC
We will try and hold the course in a venue that’s fair and central to the interested applicants.
Course will run from 4.00pm to 6.30pm approx. 
 
Course Fee: €0,  Normally €80 but Wexford Coaching and Games and Rackard League Committee have decided to cover the cost of course for each attendee.
 
 
Course Overview
The course aims to provide coaches with the information and the comprehension and application abilities to know how to develop players’ capacities.
 
This course covers a number of key modules, these include:
 
Role of the Coach
Skill Development
Adapting Games for Decision Making
Team Play (Family of Games)
Physical Fitness (Physical Literacy)
Planning for Success
 
The focus of the course is the further development of the ‘How to Coach’ skills  by placing the participant in situations that they will face as coaches – the organisation of games activities, activities to develop skill and activities to develop the various movement skills.
 
Outcomes
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
Organise a programme of games and skill development activities appropriate to each participants needs and abilities
Organise progressive activities & games to develop  key skills
Organise progressive activities to develop movement skills appropriate to Gaelic games
Organise and managing players for an effective practice session
Build rapport, observe, analyse, explain, provide demonstration and provide positive feedback to players
